PORT TOWNSEND -- A living-history encampment will be held at Old Fort Townsend State Park, four miles south of Port Townsend on Old Fort Townsend Road, at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The encampment allows visitors to step back through history and experience what it was like to be a solider in the 1800s.

Visitors will witness cannon blasts and rifle shooting.

The annual encampment is sponsored by Washington State Parks and Friends of Fort Townsend, and it is free and open to the public.

For information, phone Friends of Fort Townsend at 360-385-2998.
